Our Final Result
To cope with a high demand for automation in the logistics and production industry, Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) have been becoming more and more present in warehouses and production facilities. Due to the high cost of the AMRs available in the market, our client wanted to explore the possibility to design and build their own AMRs. This put our customer in front of challenges from both a business and technical perspective.
We developed a business case in which the cost of the AMRs depended on the number of AMRs sold per year, its selling price, and the features built in the AMR. For this, a complete analysis of the existing AMRs in the market was done first. Then, a high-level architecture design of “our” AMR was performed, integrating state-of-the-art low-cost components and technologies, such as SLAM and LIDAR sensors. Finally, the business case was developed and documented.

As they become more and more important for logistics but involve high acquisition costs, the possibility to build their own AMRs was a major concern for our customer. In this project, we addressed this concern by creating both a business case and designing the architecture for a state-of-the-art, low-cost AMR.
